Hello,
As you know, AFA is having a 5k race on July 23, 2016 to raise funds for cancer patients. We provide a grant to them for $350 for their use in paying for integrative/alternative treatments, or for them to pay a bill in their name. Some patients, including patients using conventional methods, ask for a gift card for a massage or to a grocery store to purchase organic foods.
Answers for Angels tentatively scheduled an interview at the ‘AFA 5k’ with Tara Hill, a young 20-year old Chicago girl, who is using alternative methods to heal Ewing Sarcoma. We wish her well and send her all the love and support she needs to heal.
For the 5k, we are looking for donations of 8oz. water bottles, organic protein bars or fruit and nut bars, or bananas and oranges for the estimated 200 participants in the ‘AFA 5k’ race. In addition, we need volunteers; and sponsorship opportunities are available by clicking on the AFA 5k Sponsor Form.
I will notify you when registration opens up. In the meantime, please advise if I can schedule a pickup of your donation in the Chicago-land area or if you would like to volunteer.
Thank you and take care,
Katie Davis

Thank you so much for remembering Answers for Angels when you shop at AmazonSmile; for your purchases, Amazon donates a portion of it back to us. In addition, thank you for donating yesterday for the #GivingTuesday movement. Your donations to this campaign raised $115 to add to our end of year campaign goal.
With the funds raised yesterday and a spotlight on our end of year crusade beginning next week, we want to be successful in raising $350. Our goal is to sponsor another patient’s visit to an integrative oncologist and pay for prescribed supplements or shots, or pay a bill in their name and more. This doesn’t seem like much but to a cancer patient, consulting with an integrative oncologist and paying out-of-pocket for their medical care that insurance doesn’t cover, it’s a sizable amount. This amount provides another option to treating cancer and participating in healing their body back to health. Moreover, to a patient who’s single and self-supportive, it’s a relief to the challenge of making ends meet.
Your partnership with us is helpful and important to a cancer patient; it changes people’s lives in astonishing ways. People like Vicki O. from Washington with esophageal cancer that can now eat whole foods, something we take for granted, after following an integrative approach to her treatment. In her own words she “feels healthy, energetic, and happy!” This is an amazing testimony to hear about after 3 months of treatment!
Once more, thank you for your donations and please look for more information in the coming weeks as we begin our Spotlight on Giving Tree campaign.
Thank you and take care!
At this time of Thanksgiving celebration, our thoughts turn gratefully to you with warm appreciation for your donations/support this past year. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to help a few cancer patients pay for complementary treatments & IV injections as part of their medical care. Your donations changed someone’s life by the programs we provide.
In May 2015, Vickie O. from Washington was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer. Listen to her testimony that Answers for Angels received 3 months after her diagnosis & after using an integrative treatment.
The conventional oncologist recommended chemo without much hope for improvement – let alone curing the cancer; they painted a dismal outcome. (I cannot eat & swallow whole foods, at this time.)
The integrative oncologist offered several treatments, injections, & supplements with the hope & chance of recovery; I found them to be compassionate & optimistic. The idea of only targeting the cancer cells & not harming the healthy cells appealed to me. With this treatment, I feel strong & healthy while fighting.

Last month was Skin Cancer Awareness month & we posted an article about a young woman with melanoma skin cancer. You can read the article here: http://bit.ly/1IRFwPP. Which brings us to this month…
This month, Father’s Day is Sunday, June 21st. So do something thoughtful & caring for your dad & his health. Let dad know that skin cancer is incredibly common, & the rates of the deadliest form, melanoma, are rising. Men are more likely than women to be diagnosed with melanoma & much more likely to die of it. So what point am I trying to make? The point is that men need to do more to protect themselves from the sun; they should educate themselves about proper sun protection.
Here’s an idea for a gift, even if it’s not on his ‘Wish List’. When dad is work, work, working – be it on the deck, tending to his garden, or sipping on a cool drink, show him that you care by giving him a sun care product that has a no- to low- cancer causing hazard from Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep database http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/.
Dad’s need a little coddling too so take him on a family picnic or take turns test-driving a car with the sunroof down! Either way, just enjoy his company.
Happy Father’s Day!
This is a picture of Kentucky-born Tawny, a registered nurse, at the age of 27. In high school, she used the tanning bed 4-5 times a week. According to Tawny, she’s now had basal cell carcinoma 5 times & squamous cell carcinoma once.
Prepare yourself: Tawny posted a graphic photo of her skin cancer treatment to Facebook as an awareness tool. “If anyone needs a little motivation to not lie in the tanning bed and sun here ya go!” she writes. “This is what skin cancer treatment can look like.”
As said by Tawny Willoughby, she was first diagnosed with skin cancer at age 21, and now goes to the dermatologist every 6-12 months. The painful picture, showing bright red scabs and bloodied blisters, has been shared more than 66,000 times as a stunning warning about the hazards of skin cancer.
“Melanoma kills, non-melanoma disfigures,” she writes.
Tawny Willoughby sums it up in her Facebook post: “Wear sunscreen and get a spray tan. You only get one skin and you should take care of it,” she writes. “Learn from other people’s mistakes. Don’t let tanning prevent you from seeing your children grow up.”
